actor-mn-nambiarBornn on March 7, 1919 in Cherukunnu, Kannur in a Nabiar family in Kannur, Kerala, he moved to live with his sister in Ooty. He became interested in acting when he was 13 and he joined Nawab Rajamannikam’s troupe. From then obn acting became the only thing that they occupied him. His first film was ‘Bhaktha Ramadoss’, shot in 1935 in Hindi and Tamil, were he played a villain.
M. N. Nambiar is an ardent devotee of Sabarimala Sri Ayyappa. He has had a long association with the temple, and visited the shrine more than 65 years over the last half century; this has led to him being called Maha Guruwamy.
Friends and close associates said that to them, it was not just the loss of a great actor but also of a spiritual leader. “Nambiar Sami was responsible for taking most of us in the industry to Sabarimalai” said dance master Sundaram.
T. L. Palaniappan, casher of the Ayyappan devotees group led by the actor said: “He was our guruswami…he went to sabarimala for 60 years. He planned every trip so meticulously “, he said.
“He had great regard for all his contemporaries. One could see the genuine affection he had for actors”. Said actor Sarath Babu, Nambiar’s Son-in-law
